The last thing anyone wants to think about when they are giving birth is whether or not they will live to see their child. But unfortunately, harrowing statistics shows that for women of color this fear is an ever-present aspect of their reality.

 

Each year in the United States, about 700 to 1,200 women die from pregnancy or childbirth complications, and black women are about three to four times more likely to die. 


We created Letters to my Child to help shed light on this issue that has been swept under the rug and hidden in the dark.
